I just finished reading Donald Miller’s (he wrote Blue Like Jazz which I recommend) new book A Million Miles in a Thousand Years. I won’t go into a full review because I think I am still processing much of the book which honestly can take me a while. I will say that I laughed a lot which is always a bonus.
What I thought I would do is share two quotes from the book that stood out.
People love to have lived a great story, but few people like the work it takes to make it happen. But Joy costs pain.
Humans are designed to seek comfort and order, and so if they have comfort and order, they tend to plant themselves, even if their comfort isn’t all that comfortable. And even if they secretly want for something better.
Deep thoughts to say the least.

If you were in one of our services this weekend, you know that we joyfully commissioned the Staples family as they answer the call to serve as full-time missionaries in East Africa (living in Kenya). Brian will be flying for African Inland Mission (AIM) and Jami will serving as a writer and communication specialist for the mission. I’ve posted a recent video below that the Staples put together.
Please pray for their transition and ministry. I’d also ask you to continue to pray for our other 29 supported missionaries!
