Family Life Spring 2010 Mission Project
Family Life is introducing a project to benefit the New Hope Foundation of the New Hope Orphanage in Beijing, China. Founded in 2000 by Dr. Joyce Hill and her husband Robin, the foundation and the orphanage meet the needs of babies who need surgery or are otherwise at risk. They care for 150 sick and physically disabled babies and young children who have been abandoned. Most children are eventually placed in foster or adoptive homes.
Throughout March, collection bins for supplies will be located in the Courtyard, the preschool hallway and the Gym, and an offering will be taken in children’s Sunday school classes.
The New Hope Orphanange would appreciate new or gently used sneakers and clothing in newborn sizes through children’s size 6 as well as educational preschool toys, art supplies, toddler art smocks, wooden puzzles and wind-up toys. “Preemie” size diapers, infant Tylenol, infant Ibuprofen, Neosporin and hydrocortisone cream are also appreciated.
The offering collected will be used for luggage fees to transport supplies with the CAC China team on April 29, to ship supplies to Tennesee for New Hope’s suitcase program, to purchase institutional hand sanitizer and to purchase orthopedic shoes for children with club feet.
